Buildings for Lease or Rent

The Montana Legislature created a new law in 2013 governing local administration of multiple buildings for lease or rent on a single parcel.  The new law (76-8-102, MCA) went into effect September 1, 2013, and established a review process separate from subdivision review.  Lincoln County adopted regulations to administer and comply with the new law on April 30, 2014.  The purpose of the law and regulations were to facilitate placement of a guest houses or agricultural buildings on property without a full subdivision review process.  In 2025, the state legislature added RV Parks and mobile home parks to this chapter.  The regulations have been updated to reflect these changes (Resolution 2026-15).
