Records Requests
The primary responsibility of the Records Unit is to maintain accurate local Criminal History information on all individuals arrested in Lincoln County by the various law enforcement agencies and to submit all required documentation to the Montana Identification Bureau.
The Records Unit is also responsible for filing and maintaining the investigative reports of the Lincoln County deputies.
Requests for the dissemination of public information are processed by the Records Unit.
If you wish to purchase an Initial Offense Report, which is the only part of a case report that is public information, you will need to either visit the Records Unit and make your request in person, or send your request in writing through the mail. Only public information can be released.
Requests in person:
Bring all of the information you know about the incident: case number if possible, date, names, times, vehicles, license plates, etc.
The fee is $5.00, payable by cash, check, or money order. Appointments are preferred but not necessary. Call 406-293-4112 ext.5 to make an appointment.
Requests by mail:
