Welcome to the Lincoln County Regulatory Update Page
Lincoln County received a grant from the Montana Community Reinvestment Act to conduct a wholesale revision of its Subdivision Regulations, Buildings for Lease/Rent Regulations, and all applicable forms. This revision is being conducted with an eye towards improving procedures as well as making the application process more approachable for small acreage landowners to be able to create housing opportunities in an affordable manner within the regulatory framework of the statutes governing land use and development.

Schedule of Review
A steering committee has been selected from the development and agency community to provide valuable input into the process for the consulting planner preparing the updates. The Lincoln County Planning Board will review all recommendations, modify, enhance, etc. prior to final adoption by the County Commissioners
August 19, 2025 – Initial presentation to Planning Board with summary recommendations of statutory, formatting and structural changes
September 16, 2025 – Planning Board review of Chapters I-V of Lincoln County Subdivision Regulations
October 21, 2025 – Planning Board review of Chapters VI. Design Standards A-O, excluding VI-G and IV-P.
December 16, 2025 – Planning Board review of Chapter VI-G and VI-P. Design Standards, Roads and Fire Protection
February 17, 2026 – Final Planning Board review of 2025 Subdivision Regulation changes.
March 17, 2026 – Planning Board review of Buildings for Lease or Rent (RV Parks)
April 15, 2026 – Public Hearing with Board of County Commissioners
April 29, 2026 – Final Adoption
