Birth and Death Records
The Lincoln County Clerk & Recorder’s Office is connected with the Office of Vital Statistics in Helena and is able to provide birth and death records for all Montana counties that are currently on record.
Who can get a birth/death certificate?
According to the Montana Code Annotated, birth records may only be issued to the registrant, the registrant’s spouse, children, parents & guardians or an authorized representative. If anyone other than the registrant or registrant’s parent requests a birth certificate they must have proof of their relationship to the birth certificate holder.
Death certificates can be obtained by any person who has valid ID and fills out the request form in its entirety.
Obtaining a Vital Record
Lincoln County is online with the Office of Vital Statistics in Helena. Therefore, this office can access birth certificates for all Montana counties currently on record. You should fill out your application online and then print. Once you have your completed document filled out, the form must be signed in the presence of a notary public OR you must include identification as referenced in the form instructions.

Certified birth certificates are $8.00 and certified death certificates are $7.00.
