Understanding and Supporting Young Children Impacted by Trauma – May 13, 2017

In this training, participants will be provided an overview of the impacts oftrauma and chronic stress on young children across the developmental domains. The focus will be on strategies participants can add to their tool box to better support children as they move through a variety of emotions, behaviors and social skills they may be experiencing based on these impacts. The trainer will share strategies that are evidence-based, drawing from models such as Attachment, Self-Regulation and Competency (ARC), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), attachment theory and other related works. These strategies will emphasize the environment, self-regulation, relationships and interactions– not only as interventions, but also as protective factors that boost resiliency in young children.
